The drama “Ekush” tells a story about the importance of respecting our mother tongue. The story revolves around a Bengali teacher who values and teaches his students to value their language. However, the people around him prefer to use traditional English, and when he tries to correct their mistakes, they don’t listen to him. Eventually, they misunderstand him and ask him to leave the village. But they soon realize that the Bengali language is worth fighting for, as it is a symbol of their identity and heritage. In the end, everyone starts using the language politely and with respect.
